What is Harber Metal’s Manufacturing Quality Award?

Harber Metal is a company that is committed to quality assurance in metal manufacturing and meeting the needs of its business partners. It has a Continuous Improvement Department, headed by senior management, that works on making small but steady improvements. Harber Metal also has its own Manufacturing Quality Award to motivate and reward its best-performing department every quarter.

The Manufacturing Quality Award is based on the data from the nonconformity report, which tracks the amount of rework and scrap in each department. The department with the lowest nonconformity rate wins the award and gets $100 for each employee. The award is open to all manufacturing departments, such as assembly, deburring, gear cutting, CNC milling, man lathe, SDT and LDT.

Since introducing the Manufacturing Quality Award in 2015, Harber Metal has seen an improvement in its manufacturing quality and an increase in its net sales. It has reduced the costs and time associated with rework and scrap, which has improved its bottom line and customer satisfaction.

Harber Metal Selected as Qualifying Candidate for UTC Aerospace System Supplier Gold Program

Harber Metal’s major strides towards continuous manufacturing quality improvement and overall manufacturing efficiency have earned industry recognition – we have been selected as a qualifying candidate for UTC Aerospace System’s globally renowned Supplier Gold Program.

The Supplier Gold Program was introduced internationally by UTC Aerospace Systems, a leading provider of innovative aerospace technologies. The program creates incentive for UTC Aerospace Systems' suppliers to follow the highest standards of quality, cost and customer satisfaction. The program both ensures manufacturing quality and recognizes high-performing suppliers worldwide.

The program helps suppliers improve their operations by using key metrics aligned with its company standards of achieving competitive excellence. To meet the UTC Supplier Gold criteria, a supplier must have had zero quality rejections in the past year. Harber Metal's qualification for the program is a sign of our operational excellence, and we are very proud of this form of recognition.

These have been big wins for us, as our largest clients, such as Stryker and Goodrich (now owned by UTC Aerospace Systems), generate supplier scorecards driven by manufacturing quality and timely delivery.
